Sarcopenia: 1.0 m/s Over 6 m

Four AWGS 2019 checks at home: finger-ring test, SARC-F 4 or more, five chair stands in 12 s or more, and a 6 m walk under 1.0 m/s.

Sarcopenia: 1.0 m/s Over 6 m

Four sarcopenia checks from the Asian guideline (AWGS 2019) that work at home:

  • Finger-ring test: a gap between your calf and a ring made with your thumbs and index fingers means higher risk.
  • SARC-F: 4 or more out of 10.
  • 5 chair stands: 12 s or more.
  • 6 m walk: under 1.0 m/s, which means more than 6 seconds.

Timing a 6 m walk: under 1.0 m/s is the AWGS 2019 sign of low physical performance.
